Being one of the early points of arrival for the colonial immigrants, Savusavu is home to people from all corners of the globe. Intermarriage over the years has seen, for example, the Whippy family, originally of Nantucket, almost localized.  The boat building trade of their origin, however, still predominates. History is rich.
