During the Colonial era the Hot Springs Hotel was owned by the Lepper family (Copra Plantation Owners) & was the only Hotel in Savusavu. It was home to visiting Government officials, traders & travelers who passed through Savusavu during those early times.
South Pacific Hotels recognized the potential of the site, overlooking the Savusavu Bay in the mid 1960's. They purchased the property from the Leppers & the hotel was built and open for business in 1970 as part of the Travelodge Chain of Hotels.
Around the same time the Travelodge Taveuni (Garden Island Resort), the Suva Travelodge (Holiday Inn) & Nadi Travelodge (Tanoa International) were built.
Savusavu Travelodge passed through several private owners, & was renamed in 1984 to the Hot Springs Hotel. My wife & I bought it in 1996, and have owned it since (Tim & Lorna Eden.)
