history of savusavuDuring the Colonial era the Hot Springs Hotel was owned by the Lepper family (Copra Plantation Owners) & was the only Hotel in Savusavu. It was home to visiting Government officials, traders & travelers during those early times.

South Pacific Hotels recognized the potential of the site, overlooking the Savusavu Bay in the mid 1960's. They purchased the property from the Leppers & a new hotel was built  and opened for business in 1970 as the Savusavu Travelodge - part of the Travelodge Chain of Hotels.

Fijian BureDuring this same time the Travelodge Taveuni (now Garden Island Resort), the Suva Travelodge (now Holiday Inn) & Nadi Travelodge (now Tanoa International) were built.

Savusavu Travelodge passed through several private owners, & was renamed the Hot Springs Hotel in 1984.
